Feel like going on an adventure?
Here are a few tips to get prepared to explore the amazing islands of the #Azores!
For the newbies, you have to remember the most important rule: the #weather in the #Azores is schizophrenic! It is different depending on which area you are (yes on the same island) and the time of the day and year of course. Summer doesn't necessarily means sun and heat for three months. Winter does not mean rain and cold all day long! It does rain and it is pretty windy, all year round! As it is pretty sunny and cool, all year round! Have a headache already?
1. #Sunscreen
The sun is pretty strong, summer time and winter time as well. Especially if you go to Ilheu de Vila Franca where you could end up being fried, literally.
2. #Hiking shoes, or just comfy ones
One of the best activity that the #Azores have to offer are their walking trails! Easy or not, everybody will have fun! Here is where to find all the #trails. Oh and no, you should not try and climb Pico wearing flip-flops...!!
3. Coloured #Bikini / bathing suit
If you explore the island of #SãoMiguel, you will go to #Furnas (no doubt). You will take a bath of volcanic water (no doubt). You will not bring any clothes, bikini, or towels that are white. Why? Because there is a curse: everything that is white turns yellow-ish/orange-ish/brown-ish. Nah no curse involved! It's the water's minerals, iron and sulfur, that will sting any white fabric! Be kind to your azorian host and do not bring your accommodations' towels over there...!
4. Light #raincoat
The #Azores are pretty wet. The weather, again, is schizophrenic. So you will probably get a little (define little...) rain. No biggy though, there are always things to do, even in the rain! Don't let it stop you!
That's it for the essentials! If you think we should add some items to the list, let us know!
